Default How to upgrade from 10.6 (fresh install w/ no nbi) to 10.6.5 - 12-25-2010, 08:38 PM

I just got a Dell Mini 10v and used the latest Netbookbootmaker to prepare the usb drive. The install went smoothly, but now I'm running OS X 10.6 (no netbookinstaller used) and I want to upgrade to 10.6.5. Exactly what NBI should I use for this, and in what order I should perform the upgrade (ex: combo update, nbi, reboot, etc). Thanks in advance, and merry christmas!

Run this NBI only! http://dl.dropbox.com/u/863180/Netbo...212351.app.zip

Then combo or software update. Reboot. NBI will automatically run again.

Done.

Merry Christmas If you have Bluetooth and it doesn't work run NBI again with just "Fix Bluetooth" checked and reboot.

Hey,
Just got a 10v for christmas and finally figured out how to put OSX on it. I was messing around with stuff cause OSX is brand new to me, and accidentally updated from 10.6.3 to 10.6.5 through the system updated when I restarted the computer. Now it won't load unless I have the bootloader IMG USB stick in, with the older version. When it's loaded in osx this way it doesn't recognize my wifi any more either. Can I put the loader you provided in this thread on a USB as an image and reboot? Or do I have to format somehow and reinstall? Halp!

You need to follow these instructions from this thread......

1) Boot up holding down the shift key. At the grey screen with your boot disc, type recovery=y. You should see this show up in the bottom left corner of the screen. Hit enter. This should let your machine boot into recovery mode, without lots of extensions loaded.
2) Run the new version of NBI from here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/863180/Netbo...212351.app.zip
3) Reboot. You should be good to go now!

Thanks. Just updated my 10v (which has been perfect with 10.6.2 for months) to 10.6.5 using this process. Bada bing bada boom, no issues. Now I can use my new magic trackpad (and stop using the horrible Dell trackpad).

After my hd died yesterday and being stuck at 10.6.0, I replaced the 160 hd with a 320 hd and did a vanilla install...decided to follow the above and voila...success!

Mini 10v (Black) - BIOS A06 - Mac OS X 10.6.0 - 1GB RAM - 320GB HDD (7200 rpm) - NBM via USB - NBI (ending with 51) - Legacy Off

Had a happy 10.6.6 machine and updated to 10.6.7, but no love...maybe I'll do a vanilla install...but probably not.
