Third try was the charm. After initially failing to go from 10.6.4 to 10.6.6, I did a fresh install and tried to go right from 10.6 to combo update 10.6.6 (using the newer 2351 NBI). No dice. So, I did another fresh install and updated in increments, 10.6 to 10.6.3 to (NBI ...2351), 10.6.4 to 10.6.5 and finally to 10.6.6. Never used SU. Only ran the 2351 NBI once after 10.6.3 was installed. Everything is great, except hibernate. Can't quite remember what to do to get this back. Other than that, things are working great.

Question on on the steps below:

1. Download carbon copier.
2. Format an external hard drive and make a direct copy of your internal to this external using Carbon Copier.
3. Run NBI (51) Chameleon Bootloader ONLY. DO NOT DO ANY OF THE OTHER OPTIONS.
4. Make sure your external boots ok.

When you mentioned ran NBI with Chameleon option that was on the External drive, which is a clone, correct?

You ran NBI after booting in clone?
Else how do you do that?
I have not cloned my HD, but would like to.
Can I clone it to USB Flash in lieu of another HD?
Your reply is highly appreciated in advance.[COLOR="Silver"]
You have to run NBI after you clone the HD to the external. You won't be able to boot into it otherwise. Before logging off your primary drive, open NBI and click on only the first box to install chameleon bootloader (in the drop down box, make sure you tell it to do it to your backup). I named my backup....Mac Backup.

Once the bootloader is loaded log off, go into you BIOS, disable USB Sleep and enable Legacy and boot to the external to make sure it loads correctly. Easiest way to see is to hold shift down after the "Dell" splash screen to see if the mac backup shows up. Once loaded look under "About this Mac" under the apple in the top left and it should show the name of your backup drive.

At that point, reboot, go into BIOS, uncheck legacy, reenable sleep and boot to y our primary and proceed with install. If it works, do another full backup to your backup drive and CC will copy that which has changed. Rerun NBI chameleon and make sure it works.

Boom you should then have two copies of 10.6.6

The key though is getting that first backup ready just in case. I actually have 2 backups. My primary "Mac Backup" which has 10.6.6 on it and an old external HD with a huge capacity of 75 GB that is my Mac 2nd Backup which has 10.6.5 on it.

I used Clonezilla and backed up my 10.6.5 version of OS X to a usb external drive before upgrading. I have been bitten by the "kernel panic" issue one too many times. Save yourself a headache, have a good verified backup before updating your OS X.

Upgraded my 1011 A06 (no dongles, no hardware upgrades) from 10.6 (never updated, retail SL DVD install) yesterday directly to 10.6.6.

Ran NBI 20100616212351

Ran all combined Software Updates (10.6.6), minus the following updates I didn't need:

iDVD 7.0.4
Java 10.6 update 3

Watched a movie and had a drink.

NBI re-ran automatically on reboot. Everything works: Sound, WiFi, Lid-on Sleep. Sleep requires pushing power once to awaken, but that's always been the case.

I don't have Bluetooth -- or maybe it was disabled.

I am curious to see if VGA out to display works. It never worked under 10.6.

Just posting in case others want to know what did work.

Heres the method that worked for me (upgrade from 10.6.5 to 10.6.6)
1.) Run NBI 0.85pre
2.) Download and install update from Apple
3.) Reboot when prompted
4.) On restart, you'll see a ton of white text on a black screen, after a while, it will go away.
5.) The computer will restart, and you'll have a fully functional Dell Mini 10v running 10.6.6.

Method:
1.) Downloaded and ran NBI 20100616212351
2.) Downloaded and ran the 10.6.6 Combo Upgrade (full download from apple not software updates)
3.) Did not restart after install of 10.6.6 (update took a long time for last few steps-seemed to take forever while stating "1 minute remaining")
4.) Reran NBI 20100616212351
5.) Rebooted (unlike others did not seem to take very long to get login screen)
6.) Logged in and used software update to fully patch all other software.

Result==success all software updated. Sleep works fine, sound works fine, mouse/trackpad is as bad as before (I use USB mouse mostly). Bluetooth is on and cannot be disabled (same as 10.6.3 for me).

Running 10v 2GB bluetooth.

Thanks all for threads and advice.

Tim
Just followed these steps from 10.6.4 and so far everything in 10.6.6 works great!

I updated it from 10.6.5 to 10.6.6 and there was no sound. There wasn't a fix for it so I did a clean install from my usb. Then I ran the latest NBI (ending with 51) and updated straight to 10.6.6 with no problems everything working great. Now I'am playing angry birds on my hackintosh mini 10v!

Angry Birds is working? Posts #72 and #74 said it wasn't ported for the graphics card so I haven't installed it yet.

According to the Rovio Blog and the App Store description, it now works with older MacBooks with the Intel GMA 950 chipset.
