Unhappy Error beep when starting on mini 10v - 02-13-2011, 06:16 AM

Hello everyone, I need your help!

For some days, I've had an issue with my mini 10v, it starts with the Dell logo and then, a blue bar starts loading, but when the bar loads at a certain point, there it starts such a horrible beep that lasts for about 30 seconds and then, it asks me from where should I start the system and it stops... I could have my mini 10v turned on all day and nothing special happens, it doesn't overheat nor turn slower... The problem occurs only when I start the system.

I'd really appretiate any kinda help.

p.s. English is not my native language, so I tried doing my best in explaining the problem...

Thanks!

what are the options about from where you should start the system.....does it allow you to choose any of them? or is the screen totally dead at that point...can you use the up or down arrows or anything?

if it doesnt overheat or get warm...there is a good chance that the hard drive has stopped spiinning otherwise it would get pretty warm being left on all day with the platters just spinning around and around......it sounds like they are not spinning...maybe your hard drive has failed or maybe the boot sector has become corrupt

it provides me the options of booting the system: hdd, usb device, etc.
the screen is not dead, i can choose and start the system normally, the only detail is that when i turn on the laptop, it starts beeping like hell until it loads...
