Default OSX to Ubuntu 12.10 on Mini 9 - 02-22-2013, 04:45 PM

I had OSX running on my mini 9 and subsequently acquired a MacBook Pro and an iMac both running Mountain Lion. I have decided that it's time to move to a different OS on the mini that I can use primarily for road trips for browsing and email when the iPad is busy or I really need a keyboard.

I tried to install Ubuntu 12.10 last night. I was able to make a bootable USB drive and go through the entire install process - erasing my 16GB SSD and installing there. Everything appeared to work (wireless and sound) as the install went through without issue. However, when finished, I tried to reboot and it won't boot from the hard drive. If I boot from the USB, it gives me the same "try it or install it" dialog.

How do I get Linux to boot from the SSD?

Is your SSD 1st on the boot order in the BIOS?

I reinstalled and, during installation, I recreated the partition tables. That seemed to do the trick. Now it boots from the hard drive. Thanks.

Yay! I'm glad you fixed it.

I had the same problem. How did you recreate the partition tables?
Thanks

During the install, when asking what drive to use for the installation, I believe there was an advanced button or something like that. Anyway, poking around there led me to a screen where I could recreate the partition tables. I just took the defaults and let it go through the rest of the install. When done, it booted from the hard drive.
