Default Just bought a Dell Mini, but can't tell if it is 10 or 10v - 05-26-2011, 03:02 PM

I bought a Nickelodeon 'Slimed' Dell Mini 10 from somebody on Craigslist, and I want to hackintosh it... but I can't tell if it's the 10 or the 10v.

Every listing I see online for the Nickelodeon version lists it as a 10v, but I don't see "10v" or "1011" printed anywhere on the case. It says "Inspiron mini 10" on the bottom, and the 'model no' says "PP19S."

Anybody know how to tell for sure that I have a 10v and not a 10 with the slimed cover added later. If somebody manually changed the covers to the slime covers, then they did it for the keyboard portion, too.

Is there a hackintosh method that works for both the 10v and the 10, so I don't have to confirm which is which?

Thanks!

the 1011 (10v) is the only model that came slime green, but if you want to satisfy yourself you can go to

Dell System Information / Dell Warranty Extensions & Upgrades / Dell Warranty Status

and enter in your service tag number (located on the bottom of the unit) and it will tell you everything that the machine was originally configured with

The hacktintoshing is completely different between the 1010 (Mini 10) and the 1011 (Mini 10v), the 10v is the model most hackintosh...the 1010 can be done but there are issues with the GMA500 display adapter and some other issues also so it is not really recommended....some have gotten it to work but not without much trouble and it does not work 100% like the 10v does

I looked it up based on the service tag and confirmed that it's the 10v. Now, I gotta find my damn external HDD so I can get to hacking!

well glad you are happy, me personally I HATE APPLE...and would never want/buy one....and I would rather have the HD 1366x768 screen and the TV Tuner than the MAC OS which is why I wanted the 1010, it isnt available on the 1011..well good luck with your work, do a search for mechdrews guide here on the forum it will help you out a lot....

Default Slime 10V - 08-15-2011, 02:47 PM

I've got the same netbook. It's a 10v and works with OS X 10.6.6 just fine.

Default Dell Mini 10 version - 12-05-2012, 07:41 PM

Go to Dell.com, click on the tech service tab. It will ask you to input the service tag from the label on the bottom of the computer. When you enter that, the exact model number will pop up.

if it has an HDMI port its a 1010 otherwise its a 1011,1012 or 1018 if it has 2 USB's its a 1018, processor wise Z520,Z530 (1010), N270,N280 (1011), N450 (1012), N455 (1018), just go to 'Control Panel' and then click on 'System', on a lot of the older systems the service tag number is worn away unless you placed a large piece of clear tape over it from day 1 like I did
