Default Plans for a Mini 10 sleeve - 05-10-2009, 06:33 PM

With things looking like the Mini 10 will be taking over the Mini 9 slot eventually, and with the potential of the Mini 10v and it's Atom 270 and GMA 950...

It looks like I'll be buying a Mino 10v when they are available, write the costs down to doing business, and I'll start making Mini 10 sleeves soon! Once the 10v is available, and hopefully with the optional 6 cell battery I'll have one to build a pattern around.

Those looking for a sleeve for the 10, stay tuned!

I already can't wait. I've got my 10v on order, and if it works out, I may end up selling my Mini 9. Haven't quite decided yet, as I may have other uses for it. But, definitely looking forward to a sleeve for the 10v!

I would like to get a place in line for a case for my soon to be shipping 10v

psyopper, did you end up buying one? I can't remember if you mentioned if you did or not. Cause I'm already itching to place an order for my sleeve, and I will send you all sorts of measurements and pictures. I don't mind being a guinea pig for this one.

I didn't yet, I'm waiting to see if it's Hackintoshable first. The first units should be in the laps of testers next week and if it's promising, I'll have my order in right away.

One of my customers in Irvine California is a cabinet maker and wanted a sleeve for his 14" Dell to match the one for his Mini 9. He whipped up a wood mockup of the laptop and is mailing it to me as we speak. He has offered to make mockups of the Mini 10 and Mini 12 for me if anyone is in the area with one that he can look at for a few hours.

Nice. I should have mine tomorrow, so I can at least get some pictures with rulers and such. I'm no good with mockups, but it'd be a start if nothing else. If I was in the area though, I'd totally take him up on that offer.

The first thing I'm going to be doing is trying to load OS X on it when it gets here.

No worries on the Mini 10 mock-up. Went to Best Buy and made the wooden copy (and recieved some very questionable looks from the sales staff)

Should be in Brads hands as we speak...

Thanks for that!! It looks great, though I should swing it by my local BB to compare.

For those interested - this is a mockup of a 1010 (should be identical to the 1011) with the 3 cell battery. If anyone has one with a 6 cell I would sure appreciate a few photos with a ruler. Need to know the width and height of the batteries.

I'm thinking I could chop down a 5/8" piece of dowel to replicate it but I would love to know for sure.

I snapped these pics real quick but...I'm not very good at this. I may need to do it again later when I have more time.

Might want to nab a couple of it as well in the Mini 10v.
