I am using a non stock battery from ebay, was about £8 - seems just as good as the stock one, but means that I keep a fully charged battery in my bag in case i need it. I use the non stock one mainly to protect the stock one

But yes, 18 hours is fine, I have an hour each way commute, so play games, read and listen to tunes 2 hours a day, plus a bit of net at work and when i get home - lasts well. Remember compaired to a Nokia E71 etc this is in a different league - hugely bigger screen, faster processor and touch screen - I am impressed by what is CAN do... the Desire HD seems FAR worse from what I have seen, barely lasting 12 hours on standby! It's the price to pay for large screens.

I'll give it a go with ATK disabled and report back.

headphones are standard Streak ones btw and most days I dont use it simply because it drains down the battery so much that I woudl have no charge left in case I needed to call someone on teh way home. I've even started bringing my netbook to work to use for music and any lunchtime surfing just so I can have a decent amount of charge left.

I think I'll see what CPW have to say this weekend

I'm running the stock 2.2 on unlocked Streak.
I have GPS, 3G, and WIFI turned on at all times and bluetooth is on here and there.
I primarily use my streak as a phone, so heavy on text messaging/email/phone usage.
I also have pretty heavy internet browsing throughout the day.
Besides that, there are 3 widgets running at all time (weather, calendar, battery monitor) and i have my screen set at about medium brightness.
With all that, Im getting roughly about 18hours minimum battery life. for the size of the screen and what i get out of it, im very happy with the battery performance. it helps that im used to charging my phone every single night anyways after having the nokia e90, iphone, iphone 3g, iphone 3gs, iphone 4.

Alpine White Mini 9, 2Gb ram, 64Gb Runcore SSD, 1.3MP cam, internal BT module, Dualboot Win7/OSX 10.5.8

Unlocked Streak, Streakdroid v.1.9.0

XPS M1330, 4Gb ram, 320Gb HDD, 128Mb Geforce 8400M GS, Wireless N, internal BT module, Slim and Brite LCD, Windows 7 Ultimate

+1 For charging every night and having no problem with it.

I know if for some reason I am going to be away from a charging outlet overnight it's always possible to stretch the battery life longer by turning GPS/background data off and stuff.

I got 3 to 4 days out of my streak on 1.6, They day I upgraded to 2.2 I got about 12 hours. I had to guess because it was completey dead and wouldnt power on before I got out of work and I had ulled it off the charger fresh that very morning. I'm able to stretch it to almost 2 days by keeping most things, like wifi, 3g, gps, sync, background data... off.

i gave up.

just bought chargers for everywhere i go. 1 in each car. 1 in bedroom. 1 in downstairs computer.

i like the stuff that comes with the streak. otherwise, i'd go back to my first cell phone, a nokia 7200...

Angry Battery Life - 03-14-2011, 08:40 PM

I find that just opening and looking at various apps drains the battery more than looking at a partial movie.

I don't use the phone as a phone, - but watch part of a movie in the bus each day, look at the news, weather, etc.

At the end of each day, there might be 20 to 30% of charge left, which would be very quickly consumed.

But yesterday, the device was not turned off as I thought, and ran for more than 1/2 the day as a phone, and it still had about 40% in and I watched Al Jazeera & other things.

By the time I got home - 1% was left.

Basically the battery needs a recharge every day, if being used for more things than just as phone on standby.

was super duper surprised to read 1 day, 2 days n stuff!!

MY wifi is always on, gps is on, bt is not... there are apps like whatsapp and some couple of messengers tht are always on, is that the reason for the phone to suck so mch of battery??

Try experimenting - For a day or two, turn off things that you don't need (such as GPS), and disabling apps which run in the background (such as the messenger ones). I suspect that it is one of the messenger apps which will turn out to be the culprit.
