Just get the 1366x768 screen and you should be fine, unless they misrepresented the Mini 10 compatibility. Also, I doubt the color of the base matters. If there is any question, you can always disassemble it and compare to what you see in the video to confirm everything matches before ordering.

Ordering soon, I haven't forgotten, I am probably going to risk it and order from the netbook place I found laptopscreen.com or whatever it is two pages back. My poor mini sits useless and limp. I miss it. Thanks everyone for starting this thread and keeping the love for the LCD screen mod!

I just ordered from the laptopscreen.com company and will report back as to what kind of experience we have with them. Ordering was simple and I selected 2 day Fed Ex so I hope to get it by the weekend. I can't wait to have my baby blue netbook back UP and running!

Looking forward to hearing how this upgrade goes. There are times when a 1024x600 screen just doesn't cut it. Thanks for keeping us updated.

Well it came today from Fed Ex and I am delighted to say it's gorgeous! I would definitely recommend this vendor, they had a two day Fed Ex delivery and it was here within two days, I am blown away by their service! It shipped minutes within my placing my order and it was after two PM on Tuesday. And its installed no hassles, it took my husband fifteen minutes using that awesome video they had on the 1012 model that someone posted a link to before. I definitely recommend laptopscreen.com, they are awesome! So happy! I think we paid $63 bucks for it shipped and it has a three year warranty! I am very pleased, and it's an LG! Best money I have spent except for the money I spent on the Mini itself. LOL! I am a very pleased customer! I had to pack it up because my son is coming home soon, but I look forward to pulling it out later and using it while he's on my desktop. Thanks so much for this thread, I am glad the upgrade went as well as it did, the extra screen real estate is awesome to have!

Default This thread was a life saver!! - 04-28-2011, 10:34 PM

I bought my daughter a Dell Mini 1012 last June and she loves it. After she had it only a couple of months the LCD got broken "by mysterious means". She claimed nothing happened to it - the cracks just showed up. I told her she could get it fixed as soon as she came up with the money. More than 6 months later she was still using it with the cracked screen (not very effectively I might say since about 20% of the screen was obscured).

Last week I started looking into repair options again and after some research on the 3rd parties offering LCDs I ran into this thread. With the description of the process here plus the video it looked really easy. Monday I ordered the high res LCD from LaptopScreen.com - $62 including 2-day shipping. The screen was delivered today and I'm happy to say that the netbook is like new again (or actually better). The whole install process took 20 minutes and the hardest part was getting the tiny screws on the side of the LCD back in.

If it hadn't been for the install description and video I don't know how long it would have taken. Not sure that I would have had the courage to try getting everything apart. Even worse, if I'd followed the Dell instructions I would have the entire thing laying with its guts out on the table now (which obviously is totally unnecessary). Thanks again for the help and pointers here. To anyone else that is thinking about doing this - GO FOR IT! I can definitely recommend LaptopScreen.com as well based on my experience.

Oh, and the best part? Earning big points with the teenager. Even got a hug out of it.

Cheers -

Mark

So glad you posted about your good experience too Mark, I am really glad you had a good experience too. I think they are a fine example of what online vendors should be doing. I am really happy with my new screen and my hubby for installing it for me! I agree about the dell instructions, it's not needed to open it all the way up. Just the bezel, and that was enough. I am delighted my webcam still works even!

I just completed my screen upgrade, took less than 1/2 hour thanks to all of the good hints found here. I work great and I am really glad I made the switch. I got my screen from Bliss Computers in New Jersey. The screen was $74.99 plus $14.99 for shipping. I must admit the shipping was more than I liked but the screen was well packed and arrived in just a couple of days after I ordered it. It took me two weeks to get around to installing it though. Now to do a larger capacity hard drive and install Linux on it as a dual boot setup.
