I wanted to get some more detail info on the 2gb upgrade can someone please let me know what part to ask for. I called the regular Dell customer service number yesterday and they insisted I was wrong that the mini 1010 cannot be upgraded.

Click on the link in my post above yours and read it. :-)
Also do you have to Mini 10 or 10V? of you have the 10V yes you can upgrade the ram to 2 gigs.
the 10 takes a new D/B that is if you can find one.

If you have the mini10 (not v) then call the Dell support line again and insist that you want the 2G daughter board with what ever processor you have. They will tell you that you can not upgrade, but don't give in. YOU CAN!!!
The staff have no idea why you can't upgrade, they have been told that you can't and won't deviate from the script.
I managed to speak to a manager who eventually relented and sent me one, then carefully following PIXARs guide in the link above I fitted it and it's great!

Right, I too bought a 1010 then realised afterwards that it was a magic trick to upgrade the ram.

I contacted our Dell account manager with the part number given on here for the 1.6ghz & 2GB daughterboard along with my service tag and requested a price.
He couldn't order it, it would need to come through from Tech support via a purchase order on our account, but the price was

1 RoHS:Yes,ASSY,PWA,SYSM,Z530,1.6,2G,1010

GBP
Subtotal 91.92
Freight 0.00
VAT £ 16.09
Total 108.01

So that is £108.01GBP including taxes, but no shipping listed for most grunty of the upgrades for the 1010.

Is it worth it.
