This is really just a general question but because I just bought my m11x yesterday, I figured someone else perhaps had some experience with this problem.

Turns out there's an IP conflict between my desktop (Also running windows 7) and the m11x. Every time I boot the m11x the internet in the house cuts out entirely. I can go online on the m11x when the desktop is off or visa versa.

So naturally I try assigning static IPs to each computer, so that the desktop connection doesn't cut out when I boot the m11x. I've run ipconfig to check that the settings took. The desktop is on xxx.xxx.x.104 and the laptop is on xxx.xxx.x.57, but somehow they still interfere with each other.

I'm stumped I have no idea why they would intefere with each other if the IPs are different. Any help would be much appreciated.

Just set the desktop to a static IP and leave the M11x dynamic. Double check your changing the settings for the right adapter.
Also never hurts to check for updated firmware for your router.
