Default Is it safe to update 10V running 10.6.1? - 06-26-2011, 05:28 AM

Hi smart folks. My 10v is still running my initial install of 10.6.1. It runs great and everything works fine. Should or can I safely upgrade to 10.6.8? Only reason I want to is because of the ability to install my apps that I bought through the app store. I've been hesitant to do any OS updates because it runs so well. Should I just wait until Lion comes out and wait for you smart people to figure it out? I'm not that savvy in Hackintoshing and must have gotten lucky with this install because of the great info supplied here.

Thanks,
Keith

Do not try to update beyond 10.6.7 the latest 10.6.8 release will not work see

and links there in.

Lion will not run on our minis they lack the necessary hardware.

My Mini 10v updates fine to 10.6.7 with the regular combo update from Apple's website. At the moment there's no reliable way to get them running 10.6.8 though, so avoid that one in Software Update.

did you update all the way to 10.6.8? if you only updated to 10.6.7 run nbi from usb on the boot then have nbi 0.8.5 pre.app on another usb(not mounted just transfer) because without 0.8.5pre wifi sound, mic, and webcam wont work. i will come back and try to help more or clarify.

All the way to 6.8. I had 6.7 up and running and it was doing well. But since I have been on a PC for years I saw the "Update available" button and clicked it

I followed someone's suggestion to reinstall, so I used my 6.3 usb stick and that ran. Then I just went to Apple and downloaded the 6.7 update and tried to update to that.

Now I see the Apple boot logo with the spinny wheel under it. I've been seeing that for 3 hours now. How long should it take for an initial boot? This seems extreme...

boot nbi from the usb stick without the apple osx stick. then run 0.8.5 pre to get wifi and sound back then reboot without the nbi usb stick in.
