I have a 10v that is currently running Snow Leopard 10.6.6. It runs fine, but I've realized that I'm just not a Mac person.

What I want to do now is install Windows 7 on my hackintoshed 10v. I have a working bootable USB drive loaded with Windows 7 so that is not an issue. When it starts to install, however, I'm unable to select my harddrive because it is not formatted for NTFS.

I've looked everywhere for solutions to this problem, but the only one I found that seemed remotely possible required Boot Camp, which hackintoshs do not have.

How can I reformat my harddrive? I have no intentions of running OSX and Windows in parallel. I would like to remove OSX and re-install Windows.

ALL OS installers should easily be able to partition a hard drive, and format partitions... no matter what's on there previously. Does the installer have a "use/erase entire drive" option somewhere? Maybe under "advanced" or something?

Yes - I have installed various Windows systems (including Windows 7) from official Microsoft CDs/DVDs. As wilth all other OSs they should offer to reformat/repartition an HDD which is foreign to them. The OP's HDD will have HFS+ as the filesystem and may also use GDP partitions (as opposed to MBT) - but this should all be fixable!

Yes, the Windows install does have this option, though once you get into it you're back at an old DOS-like interface with pressing letters to select things.

When my 10v was delivered I got a restore disk as well as a utilities disk.
Last year when it had conniptions I reformatted (dos) and reinstalled Windows.
Of course as soon as I had it working I quickly re-hackintoshed it.

Thanks all. I went to the second step of installation and deleted partitions until I was able to select the 149GB partition. I didn't realize that "delete" meant it would erase the previous formatting as well as the partition. Windows is now installing!
