So I recently got myself a Dell Vostro a90, 2GB of RAM, 8GB SSD. I've been using guides around here to install SNow Leopard, along with using netbook maker and installer. I've decided to go with 10.6 because I did not want to deal with the Atom support in 1.06.2 and higher. I'm using a retail DVD that i bought went Snow Leopard was first released. Since the drive is only 8GB I installed OS X onto an external USB HDD. Booted from and everything worked well, slimmed the installation down to around 5GB and though that it was fair enough to transfer it to the internal SSD.
Here's where the problems begin. Every type of transfer/clone/restore that I have tried seemed to have failed. I've tried a carbon copy clone and it just hangs at the apple logo with the spinning cursor. Super Duper always crashed when I tried to use it. Using Disk Utility to restore one drive to another kept giving me an error saying that it will not fit, even though it says that its under 6GB that will be restored. Then I tried a Time machine backup and restore using the USB flash drive with the OS X Install DVD, the time machine at first seemed to be working fine until it goes past 100% and gives me a couple billions of hours of estimated time, I tried it a few times and the same happened.
I'm currently stuck and decided to find some help. If anyone could be kind enough to help me, that would be great. Maybe I am doing something wrong and overlooked it or I missed a step somewhere. Either way, I'm open for suggestions.
Thank you in advance.
