I don't need a new SSD, but thanks for the post. Now that I'm out of warranty, I like to know how much a fix (and upgrade ) might cost.

I had this SSD and was disappointed. I was using it with Win7 - but it seemed to stutter and frankly slow everything down. I decided to switch back to Ubuntu NBR - but due to the bug that is linked above, I held off. Then - MDD announced a new line of RunCores, so I bit the bullet and bought the new 16GB version. I must say - I am very happy now. I installed Ubuntu NBR and my Mini9 is flying now. The 16GB is about the same price as the ST listed above, but it runs MUCH better IMO.

I am currently using this SSD and I'm sorry to say it has some problems. While I didn't have as bad an experience as rifferte, whenever I load up any medium-large websites (like Engadget) the whole system freezes for a good 5-10 seconds.

It doesn't ever feel like the drive is exhibiting the advertised speed.

I wouldn't recommend it.

Do not buy this SSD.

How does the FEM32GFDL compare with the FEM32GHDL? On paper, it seems much faster. 80/40 Mb/sec read/write versus 40/15 Mb/sec. Windows 7 was usable on the HDL so I'm surprised to hear about any lag on the FDL.

The GFDL is definitely faster. Most people with it are satisfied.

The GFDL is really fast in Windows 7. I've noticed no lag. It's much better than the GHDL. Attached is an ATTO benchmark of this drive.

You don't want the older version of this drive, it stinks

Right. GHDL is old, GFDL is new.
