Default OSX Kernel Panic? - 07-07-2011, 11:14 PM

I'm attempting to install osx snow leopard. I followed the directions from the gizmodo guide perfectly....yet I cant even make it to the installation. The usb boots up, I get the grey apple logo, then it gets a mac style kernel panic.

I have BIOS A04 and I'm using Snow Leopard 10.6.7 is that my problem? Do I need to use an earlier release of Snow Leopard?

OS X Snow Leopard Retail was released as a 10.6.0 and 10.6.3 disc, I've not seen a Retail 10.6.7 disc.

Get a Retail disc and everything should install fine, other than the Gizmodo guide is old and incomplete.

Gizmodo will still get you there... But it is a bit outdated.

Main thing as underwhelmed said, you gotta have a retail disk; either 10.6.0 or 10.6.3

Other than that; you can follow this guide: http://www.mydellmini.com/forum/gene...revisited.html , based on the gizmodo original, but more up to date, and streamlined.

Cheers.

I got a hold of the retail disk and it worked perfectly following the guide you posted. Thanks again! as a side question (I'm not sure if I can ask this here or would I need to start a new thread?) but, when using vga out on an external monitor, (not using mirroring) is there any way to turn off the mini's monitor?
