Default Good replacement AC adapter - 02-10-2010, 09:07 PM

It may be old news, but an Acer Aspire One evidently uses the same power supply specs as the Mini 10v. So after not finding any decent looking adapters specifically for the mini 10, I ordered a couple of these from Amazon (Seller was SunValleyTech).

For me, they're a huge improvement on the OEM adapter, for the following reasons:
  • The brick is little more than half the size of the Dell 3-prong wall wart. Much more packable.
  • The laptop connector is an elbow. Much better.
  • They use a standard two-pole AC cable, same as my camera chargers and macbook, so I can carry just one of these in my bag and use it on all these AC adapters.
Anyway, just thought I'd share.

A couple of pics:

why would an Acer battery fit a Dell??

the Mini 10 and Mini 10v batteries are BARELY interchangeable without some shaving of plastic...I would never even think an Acer would even come close..

I think the theory was that since an Acer AC adapter fit, a battery might too. For the adapter, all that is needed is a compatible voltage and plug, both of which are common. Batteries are typically unique to the device model.

I know a guy who put a Chevy 350 on a little plane, and zips around with it like a rocket. So, maybe the battery fits after all?
