![]() Hi, I upgraded to Windows 8 N Pro 32 bit using downloaded image (legitimate download with valid licence key). No matter what I do, I can't fix the screen rotate problem. Been at it 3 days!! driving me nuts.
Device manager has yellow exclamations next to 3 things - the light sensor, multimedia controller and the ST Microelectronics accelerometer. When I look a the information against them there's and error code 10 - couldn't start against each. Every time duo turned on get advise box popup telling me to enable the sensor via control panel locations and settings (which isn't there in win8). These are the steps I took, can someone who got windows 8 installed and working please take a look and see what I'm doing wrong. Please. Step 1: Restored to factory settings (win 7) - all windows updates added - duo restarted. Step 2: Enabled accelerometer in locations & settings via control panel (win7). Step 3: Made recovery media/image (just in case). Step 4: Installed Windows 8 N Pro 32-bit via external dvd drive (image burned to it) - Install completed - windows updates applied - Restarted again. Step 5: Uninstalled win7 accelerometer driver (R280171) by running installer package in drivers downloaded from dell for my service tag - Restarted. Step 6: Installed Samsung slate accelerometer driver as suggested (4_...) in windows 7 compatibility mode - Installed fine - Restarted. Step 7: Installed all drivers again (except Seagate HDD and chipset). All installed in compatibility/administrator mode set via properties. Have tried leaving step 5 out. Have tried not restarting at step 5. Have tried step 6 without setting compatibility settings before running. Have tried leaving out step 7. Have tried running restore and upgrade on separate days (just in case it's an overheating issue). Each time it doesn't work, I restore my duo to factory settings and start again jus to be sure that I am working on a clean machine. Can anyone spot why its not working? Failing that, has anyone got a working windows 8 image they'd be willing to share/sell? |

![]() Fixed.
Turned out to be an issue with the Windowss version I was using. Downloaded media player update for windows 8 n pro as well as loaded Samsung accelerometer driver, atheros driver (windows 8 downloads that in first update), chipset driver and broadcomm driver (all lnks found in first post on this thread) and unlike my several previous attempts was good to go. Can't get dell datasafe recovery software for win8 to work properly and when I tried to reinstall stage software it bugged the accelerometer driver out again so had to undo that via restore. Now duo runs like a charm instead of its slow, poor Windows 7 previous life. |
