Default 8.04 wireless issues - 11-17-2008, 11:31 PM

is there a patch or update to the wireless on a 8.04 mini. its pretty brand new. im fairly computer and linux savvy and its kicking my butt. Is there a better wireless manager? does 8.10 handle wireless any better?

difficulty joining a wpa psk tkip wireless g network. it just keeps looking. 3 different networks, each with other wireless machines on the network. my latitude 620 finds and joins as soon as i open it up. i have triple checked the passphrase.

Have you tried using wicd, or iwconfig / wpa_supplicant from the command line?
wicd is probably easier, but replaces the gnome network manager.
