Installed Windows 8 on our Duo a week ago. Worked absolutely great for 5 or 6 days, then when I went to start it up yesterday I got what appears to be the Windows 8 version of the blue screen of death.
In particular, when the Duo starts to boot up, I get about a second of the Dell logo screen followed quickly by a black screen with the new Windows 8 logo. After about 15 minutes, I get a "Preparing Automatic Repair" message, followed by a "Diagnosing your PC" message. After another 15 minutes, I get a "Automatic Repair couldn't repair your PC" message, with two choices - "shut down" or "advanced options".
If I choose "advanced options", my options are "continue to Windows 8" (which just starts the "Automatic Repair" sequence all over again), "troubleshoot" (none of which work) and "turn off your PC".
If I hit F2 when the Dell Logo screen is up, the "Automatic Repair" sequence starts again. If I hit F12 when the Dell Logo screen is up, it just locks on that screen, i.e. I don't get put into any kind of "safe boot" mode.
Any ideas as to how to resolve this, e.g. is there some other function key than F2 or F12 to get into some kind of safe boot mode before Windows 8 takes over? As noted, Windows 8 was working brilliantly on the Duo before this issue came up.
