I guess I feel fortunate that I didn't brick my machine when I updated to A05 using the Windows version! For me, upgrading to A05 was totally worth it. Now, the battery meter in Windows XP actually tells me how long I have left (rather than just the percent of juice left). A05 also allocates 128MB of ram to shared video ram, which makes my Ubuntu 9.04 under Compiz-Fusion run so much smoother. It's a keeper all the way around.

Let me get this straight. You still managed to brick your Mini using Windoze-based flash even after the DOS method was recommended and even linked to by Holmes!?

Have you attempted failed BIOS flash failure recovery yet w/USB floppy drive?

Please help mew learn how to update my BIOS if I have converted my Mini 9 to MacOS X. Where does DOS enter the picture, please?

Question:

Why does Dell recommend A04 for the A90 computer and A05 for the Mini 9? Aren't they exactly the same hardware?

Myself and many others are running A05 with OS X.

No issues here. Far as I've heard, its actually fixed problems for a couple people. Mainly, the reboot hang has now dissapeared for me and meklort since the upgrade.

The bios upgrade fixes a lot of battery related problems from before that was being fixed with DellEFI anyways, so there isn't much to gain if OS X is your only OS.

I dual boot WinXP and OS X so i stood to gain a lot from the upgrade.

I believe thats still a bug that existed since A00

Basically,if you go into the BIOS and change the settings back to default, it will show up as 128 but it wont actually be 128. Its still actually 64.

But you have no idea how much I want Dell to increase it to the 224 Max...

It's just a different numbering - the Vostro A04 and the Mini A05 are functionally the same.
