Attempting to upgrade from 10.6.3 to 10.6.4 left me with a system that would not complete the boot process without using "recovery=y". I finally sucked it up and did a clean install to 10.6. After that, I ran the newest NBI and installed the 10.6.4 Combo update. I then proceeded to recovery from a Time Machine backup. Everything is working including wifi, sound, and bluetooth.

i used the latest NBI from the update link at the start of this thread, then ran software update (opposed to combo update). everything works (sound, mic, wifi, dont have bluetooth so i dont know) with no panic.

You are a genius! Of course you already know that. I would like to thank you so much for this NBI version. Works perfectly! My 10v is now running 10.6.4 without any problems whatsoever!

Followed the updated instructions on post 1 and updated from 10.6.2 to 10.6.4 without any trouble. Mic, webcam, sound works. It even feels quicker than 10.6.2.

Edit: Used Bluetooth Terminal Mod to enable bluetooth.

I haven't been able to fix the issue either. I tried deleting /Extra and /boot, then reapplying NBI, fixing disk permissions and re-running the combo updater. The mini booted once, and then went back to its previous behaviour.

I will wipe the drive and start from scratch too... Possibly staying at 10.6.2. I do most of my work in emacs, and that will run on just about anything. I also had problems updating another hackintosh of mine (Sony Vaio-P, not set-up with NBI), but 10.6.2 was stable for both.

I don't have my mini with me to check right now, but could this be a BIOS incompatibility ? Spida505, what's your BIOS ?
Also, Meklort, what /E kexts are loaded in normal mode and in recovery mode ? Since everything works fine in recovery, the incompatibility must be with one of the other kexts, right ?
