Default "Install failed MAC OS X could not installed on your computer" - 03-19-2010, 07:44 AM

I was convinced into making this over buying a Macbook Air and was told about how easy it was, despite me knowing NOTHING about computers. I was repeatedly reassured it was so simple, and yet here I am, frustrated once again.

Im following the guide on Gizmodo. Everything was going well up until the point of installation. It installs and at the very end I get "Install Failed. MAC OS X could not be installed on your computer.. etc etc" I've spent hours googling and although I can see others have had this problem I do not understand the answers or simply can't find them. Im very frustrated at this point because I followed the guide exactly.

I have read that it "doesnt matter" and "its normal" on another blog, but if that is the case what is the next step to take to get it to work?

Please make any suggestions as basic as possible, I do not understand computer lingo and do not know how to do much.

This is what I bought

Yeah I had the same problem, so I just restarted well then when it restarted I got a grey screen that said "Can't find mach_kernel". Still getting this screen.

Unplug all external drives and try booting. Despite the error at the end of the install, it should boot normally. If it doesn't, please post the error message you receive.

Also, I would suggest using one of mechdrew's guides, rather than Gizmodo.

Please do a search, as this issue has been discussed many times here.

Hey so I used your method to install OSX 10.6.3 with my macbook on my dell mini 9 and it all worked great, then all the sudden today it wasnt working, it wouldnt get wifi, and weird things happened with the top bar so I restarted and it wouldnt start... it just went to the dell screen then a black screen with a little white bar spinning, so I put the usb drive back in and tried to erase and re-install, it makes it halfway through the install and then nothing.... what do I do? Please help me! I am new to this and extremely frustrated after searching through here for hours I have nothing... im about to throw this thing out the window.

SOME ONE ANYONE?
