Unhappy [BROKEN] Internal Power Connector - 09-27-2012, 04:52 PM

Disassembling my Dell Mini 10 in attempts to upgrade the 1 gig SODIMM it comes with, I opened her up. Once I took it apart I learned it wasn't even the model with the removable RAM but onboard RAM making upgrades difficult.

Frustrated I put the laptop back together... and noticed.. the plug which connects the power button to the motherboard broke off! Didn't slip out like I had thought but literally came off on the plug with little pressure it seems.

Looks near impossible to solder but I'm no master there. One metal connector looks ripped from the board and attached to the socket instead.

I would like to attempt the repair if anyone here is willing to help me , i am thinking of a direct connection maybe if i can get a diagram of what to solder/connect.

Or is there any other way to power on my mini ?

I had the exact same thing happen to me, it ended with me getting another motherboard off eBay. Good Luck!

I also just did the same thing. Bought a new power cord with plug and switch from Dell. Less than $20 with shipping.
