Default Mini 10v Unboxing, Teardown and OS X install - 05-29-2009, 02:23 PM

Dell Mini 10v

It's a quick gallery of a few shots (I haven't even looked at them myself). Essentially, it's the unboxing, some of the teardown for the RAM upgrade, then the initial parts of the OS X install. The OS X install is still going as of the time of this typing, and I know I'll be redoing it shortly anyway cause I need to get Windows 7 on there as well.

What do you think of the screen size? Is it decent (if you booted in XP)?

I need a drink!

Best wishes on the Leopard install, A. Damn you, though for disrupting my work day!

My priority at the moment is just making sure I can run OS X. If I can, life is good.

The screen size is pretty decent. Yeah, the resolution sucks, but it's a little wider than that on the Mini 9, and it looks like slightly taller. Glossy screen, which is kind of annoying. Pixels are definitely a little larger, but for my eyes, I'm not actually complaining. It's going to cause hell with some apps though.

I hate the trackpad at the moment. Absolutely freaking despise it. Give me the one off the Mini 9! But, my opinoin on it may change once I get used to it. I'm willing to give it a shot.

Considering how much they cram in there, I'm not complaining overall. I am not overly thrilled with the location of the HD, but it's only 3 screws to take the keyboard off, and then one to get the drive out.

I highly recommend plastic instead of metal for prying things off it. And you will need to do a little prying with the keyboard and the palm rest.

I realize you are busy......but....
How about the SD card slot?
Do the SD cards stick out half-way when inserted "fully?"

Thanks for the updates. I have a 10v in my cart waiting to hear how your OS X install goes.

I'll check that. Almost at a point where I am turning it off (in the middle of OS X and W7 installs).

Yep. Halfway out. Not like the Mini 9 at all.
