Hi i'm using my 1012 much more lately (due to my house rennovations) and note how good it is on playing back avi etc (thogh not so good streaming)

can anyone point me in the direction of the best color correction settings for this screen as I think there is some room for improvement in the standard setting

I've made a Hardware color calibration on my 1012HD. If you want perfect colors on your machine, i will send you the ICC profile, you just have to load it with Windows. You will be surprised how much the colors are different. Originally the display is hardly blueish.

I will try to explain, but because of my Win is Hungarian the explanation won't be exact.

1. Open Control panel
2. Open Color handling menu
3. Under the Special tab click the button Change system default settings
4. Under the Every profile tab click the Add button
5. Choose the given ICC profile then Add
6. Under the Special tab check mark the Use Windows calibration

After then you have to see the colors will change. And it will load automatically with the Windows.

And won't be surprised, the colors are will be much much different.

Ooops. The profile is calibrated to cca. 120cd/m2. Set your monitor to minimal brightness with F4, then 6 click to F5 is the calibrated brightness.

I hope the American models have the same TF panel like Hungarian models.
Mine 1012 is made in China.

What brand? (Device Manager / Monitor / Generic PnP Monitor Properties / Details / Hardware Ids)

Mine says it's an LG (LGD0269)

Thanks so much for your procedure as well, but would like to clarify for the US market there are a few differences in what you noted, probably due to translation. My comments in red.

1. Open Control panel
2. Open Color handling menu - to get there, you will have to select the "View by:" in the upper right hand corner and choose large or small icons, then you should see Color Management (not color handling).
3. Under the Special tab click the button Change system default settings - Special = Advanced tab and button should be at the very bottom.
4. Under the Every profile tab click the Add button - Every profile = All Profiles
5. Choose the given ICC profile then Add
6. Under the Special tab check mark the Use Windows calibration. - Special = Advanced

I loaded the profile and saw no difference in colors or brightness though. Maybe different panel or close to calibrated already. I don't know.
