There is tons of different configurations out there..

well that was informative.

Do you have any legal Adobe CS apps up and running with 10.6.3 and .8.4 rc1?

Edit: no sound or airport on bootup. Going to try and run NetbookInstaller again. Any ideas on how to prevent this?
I've been getting sound and airport on boot every time but, on one instance, I didn't get sound after waking from sleep. I have yet to see this repeat. If it does, I'll re-run NBI to see if that helps. I have not run NBI since the 10.6.3 upgrade...only before when I upgraded to 0.8.4. RC1.

Actually no, I don't. I run all my pro CS3 and CS4 apps on my Mac Pro and MacBook Pro. I don't know specifically which CS apps you're trying to run on your netbook but seriously... there's not a whole lot of processing power in these netbooks to begin with, not to mention the small screen size and lower resolution.

It sounds like you had your CS apps running fine before this update so I'm sorry to hear that they're not working for you now. I hope you're able to get it figured out.

thanks for the lecture on cpu horsepower!

I also have all my CS apps on my real computer. However sometimes I like to Open up dreamweaver on my mini and make a few CSS code tweaks and quickly upload. Sometimes I would like to use photoshop, dreamweaver, illustrator, and bridge, (not at the same time) none of which are actually that cpu or gpu intensive, like a stupid game or some video editing app like Final Cut Pro.

I'm not bothered too much, as I am actually an arms' reach from 5 different computing devices including an ipod touch, a 2009 mac mini, a 2009 macbook, a MDD g4 ppc 1.25ghz, and my dell mini 10v

just downgraded back to 10.6.2 and .8.3 and I am a happy camper again...
PS, DW, et all are working again!

Glad to hear you got things running again.

I wasn't so much trying to "lecture" you as far as the cpu horsepower and limitations of these netbooks. It just seems like some people expect too much from these things sometimes and try and run all the apps they normally would on their main laptops or desktops.

Does anyone have any solutions to the root disk not found error on boot? (circle with the line through it).

I can only boot using safe mode or recovery=y but then I have no airport or sound. Last time this happened I had to completely re-install the OS.

Any ideas or help would be appreciated, this is more frustrating then I can explain.

I got a kernel panic on 10.6.3 update, even whey I try to run NBI again with my portable hard drive, it gives me a kernel panic.

---------- Post added at 08:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:48 PM ----------

OK I think I may know what I did, after the update it rebooted then started to load with the NBI logo instead of the apple logo. but me thinking "ohh its frozen" did a hard reboot.

EDIT: 0.8.3 final still works and neither 0.8.4pre or 0.8.4RC1 work, time to downgrade...

I didn't upgrade to 10.6.3 yet... There is a problem with NBI 0.8.4RC1 and 1012...

And now I don't plan to run Adobe applications on it. I think they are to heavy for mini...

Is anyone else experiencing the issue where bluetooth cannot be turned off with 0.8.4RC1 and 10.6.3 (was working fine with 10.6.2). Even with Fix Bluetooth the issue is not resolved. I have a self-created kext to inject the HP Bluetooth Product:Vendor IDs on my laptops to fix this issue (has worked since 10.5.x all the way to 10.6.3) and so I modified it for the Mini 9 and even that doesn't solve the issue for me. I haven't troubleshot the issue too deeply, I just know it doesn't seem 'plug-n-play' like it used to. Otherwise, everything else that was working, still is.

meklort - are you aware of an issue in the Bluetooth kext / something that's changed to cause this? I know I read in another thread where at least two other people have had this issue as well.... thanks!
