Default 64 bit Win 7 Drivers for Mini 1012. - 05-08-2014, 04:28 AM

The Dell web site does not list all the 64 bit drivers for the Mini 1012. After loading all the listed drivers there was still one unknown driver listed in the Device Manager.

This is how I identified the device and installed the driver.

If you go to Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Information > Components > Problem Devices - you can obtain details about the particular problem device.

In this case gave the following information :- PCI/VEN_ '14E4 DEV 1615 SU

If you then input this information into this web site PCIDATABASE.com you will be advised the details about the problem device.

In this case it was the Broadcom Crystal Video Decoder.

If you them go to the Broadcom Crystal web site and obtain the latest driver your problem device will be solved.

Given that Dell doesn't sell Broadcom Crystal with the 1012, it should not be a surprise they don't have a driver for it.

Mine came with the Broadcom Crystal installed. Dell have the drivers listed on their web site but only for the 32 bit version of Windows 7 which don't work with the 64 bit operating system.

There appear to be at least two versions of the Mini 1012 motherboard. I have a Mini 1012 with all the bells and whistles. It has three mini PCI Express slots for wireless card, broadcom crystal video encoder and one other spare WWAN slot.

Recently I purchased another Mini 1012 on ebay. It was a more basic model with only one mini pci express slot which was taken up by the mini wireless network card.

Mindboggling that people run x64 on a build that supports 2GBs of RAM or less.
