Default mini 1012 and 128Gb SSD - 06-15-2011, 07:23 PM

Is there any hardware limitation that would prevent me from upgrading to a 128Gb SSD?

no, a standard SSD SATA drive should work fine in a 1012, or even a 1018 or an older 1010 & 1011 for that matter...the only SSD's that wont work are the ones with the Mini PCI-e interface such as what is used in the Mini 9's

The main limitation I'm aware of with the 1012 and SSDs is no 6Gbps support for the newest, fastest SSDs. They'll be limited to 3Gbps.

The 1010 can have problems with SSDs due to its IDE/PATA to SATA bridge chip. I think OS installation can fail, due to it misreporting TRIM support (can be worked around).

The other 101X models don't have the same problem.

Newegg is a pretty solid choice with good prices.

I'm installing that Kingston model in your sig today (I upgraded my Lat e6420 to the 6GB/s 128GB Crucial SSD and I'm moving the V100+ to the mini.) I can't wait until it shows up today.
