Default Boot menu always appears after BIOS A06 - 02-03-2010, 02:23 AM

I upgraded the BIOS in my Mini 9 from A04 to A06 using the Windows version from Dell. Everything works fine except for one oddity - each time I boot the Mini, the BIOS boot selector menu appears, as if I had pressed 0 during the initial screen. I press Enter and it boots from the SSD fine. Annoying, but not earth-shattering.

I can't find any option in the BIOS that controls this. I tried a "reset defaults" in the BIOS without a difference. Has anyone else seen this behavior?

Steve, have you tried to downgrade back to A04?....see if the problem goes away, if it does try to upgrade back to A06...maybe its a bug in A06, but I cant believe no one else has come across this yet...mighty strange in deed....Rich

That's on my list to try. I agree that it doesn't seem to be a widespread problem as i haven't noticed other reports of it, except I vaguely recall one from a long time ago with a different BIOS version.

Used somms' USB key method (which he has updated for A06 but didn't say so) to downgrade to A05. Same behavior. Then went back to A04. Boot menu gone. Weird.

I may try the option to clear the EEPROM first, but I'm a bit nervous about that. Will try going back to A06.

Skipped the EEPROM clear as that also clears the service tag. Back at A06 and the menu is still there. Guess I'll live with it for now.

Why not just stay at A04?

I might. I kind of like having battery drain current reported. I'll see how much it annoys me.
