[dell 1012]

I've upgraded my 1012 to 2gb, but I'm getting vertical lines that are multi colored and snowy.The original ram works fine. I've double checked the parts numbers from Dell and all is correct.

What version of Win are you using? The reason I ask is because I'm running XP and I upgraded to 2 GB and now my 1012 is slower than slow. I did a search and found that XP on a mini can't handle more than 1.5GB and that it will cause a slowdown and other crazy things to occur. It has something to do with the atom processor. Sounds like that is what is happening to you or it could be that you have defective or wrong memory. Did you get the memory from Dell or an outside source? If it were me I'd remove the memory and return it where I bought it.

I would say it sounds like a bad memory issue to be honest. My 1012 happily handles a 2gb stick addressing all of it on win7 32&64 bit and ubuntu 32&64 bit.
