I'm looking for a small, low power computer for my ma & pa. I was thinking of getting them a Acer Revo since the only thing they do is keep track of old business records and type a document from time to time. They say they will watch no videos, but I assume it will be used for the occasional YouTube vid sent via email.

What say you?
And thanks, trois

No optical drive on the smallest nettops. Would that be a problem?

My mother has a Gateway (rebranded Acer) netbook and loves it - she takes it everywhere. The one caution I would have is that people with fading eyesight may have difficulty with a 10-inch screen.

I own the Acer Aspire Revo AR1600 model (the original). I can definitely recommend it's low cost and the punch it packs for a $200 unit. Although, it does not come with a monitor, WiFi (for this model) or an optical drive that reflex mentioned.

My eyesight at a young age isn't good at all and a netbook sized screen is small especially for older people. I would probably recommend an entry level laptop with a bigger screen as holmes4 mentioned as well. Maybe an Intel core i3 low level laptop or perhaps even something refurbished that's within 1-2 years of production?
