The errors you are seeing indicate there is no bootable device found. Check to make sure "Legacy USB" is enabled in the BIOS - without that the CD won't boot. Also make sure your CD drive has external power.

Hi h4 many thanks for post but it looks like its Hallas (arabic for finished) for the 16 gb ssd hdd as the cd loaded drivers etc but couldnt load the win os due to no hard disk...looks like 3 options
- pro fix by cambridge laptops repair
- try & self fix with replacement ssd hdd ? where & costs??
- try & make my Xmas present 64gb USB stick from amazon ú23 into a boot up feature with the dell original OS & drivers etc...
Really like this tiny dell its been all over Europe & now died in Devon...

Replacement SSDs are available, and prices have come down, but there are few options and they are still relatively expensive. If it were me, I would not invest any more in it, but your situation may be different.

If you do try a replacement SSD, make absolutely sure that the seller says the SSD is specifically for the Dell Mini 9, as it takes a unique version.

No, that's not the issue. All the Dell install CD looks for is BIOS info saying it's a Dell.

installing all the devices one by one is a TRIAL = any quick way to do the lot in one go? a reboot each time is the real pain...?
