Default Pink & Red lids available in the US - 11-20-2008, 04:01 PM

I was going through looking at building a Studio 15 laptop and to receive a Mini 9 for $99. Well, guess what? They had the option to choose the red or pink lids along with black and white. It was an additional $25. Has anyone else seen this?

Hmm, now the question we have to ask ourselves. Or at least I do since my wife desperately wanted a red mini 9 instead of the stock black, is can you replace the lid on an existing mini easily, or do you risk seriously damaging the internals. Can you even get replacement lids (in the new colours)?

Right, so you can (theoretically at least) get your hands on replacement covers, see http://mydellmini.com/forum/dell-min...734.html#p5400 for internal part numbers. That means you should be able to get your hands on the new lids. Now I just have to take one of my mini 9's apart and figure to figure out how bad it's going to be to do the replacement.

The parts list did not include the Red covers, that I saw. Does anyone have the part number for the red cover, and/or have successfully ordered one? I desperately wanted it in red too, but got mine the week they were released and only had the white and black option to choose from.

Thanks,
pete

Okay, I just got off the phone with Dell (US), called the 1-800-999-3355 number, and ordered the red lid for my Mini 9; the actual Dell part number the phone rep gave me was T133H. The cost was about $27.00 for the part, and with shipping/fees, it came to about $34.00.

I inquired as to the price of the 32GB SSD and was quoted $100.00 for that.

Hope that helps.

I received my red lid; if you're looking to get one, use the part number in my last post. It ran under $35 with the shipping and fees.
