Default My 10V is dead :( - 07-17-2012, 02:53 PM

Hi,

My 10V hackintosh was immersed in a flood of river water for a number of hours. By the time we recovered generally from the flooding, I looked at the 10V. Yikes !! Shuda looked earlier and dried it.

A white corrosion coverd a lot of the mainboard + some brown residues - looked like salt.

Anyway it's dead .....

I loved that mini

Question: Is there a current mini model that can be hackintoshed ?

DenisM

there has been some success with the 1012, why not just check eBay for another Mini 10v or parts for yours?

Been doing that .....

In effect all I can be sure of is the case. All parts suspect.
I'd probably buy a whole one for certainty. Difficult to get parts here in Ireland. Post & Pkg from UK (or anywhere else) kills the price advantage.

It's difficult to buy s/h from my location: Ireland. Most UK sellers will not post to Ireland.
USA sellers Post charges make it too dera and there is the problem of Customs/Customs Clearance Charges & Value Added Tax - amounts to a greater then 25% charges.

I've looked at some for sale here at home and realise that some sellers only say DELL mini 10. Could possibly be a 10V - but maybe not. I looked at my own and it says Model: PP19S Ref No. 09017. No mention of 10V or 1011 on the lablels.
As I remember it , only the invoice stated it was a 10V.
So if buying S/H , how do you tell that it *is* a 10V -capable og Hackintoshing ?

if it has a HDMI port its a 1010, otherwise if its got a VGA port then its either a 1011, 1012 or a 1018, the 1018 only has 2 USB's as opposed to the 1011 and 1012 that has 3 USB's, then between the 1011 and 1012 the 1011 is all black as where the 1012 is not, most have a white bottom but some were available with a black bottom, but the best way is to tell from the processor, the 1010 has either the Z520 or the Z530 Processor, the 1011 has either the N270 or the N280 processor where as the 1012 has the N450 processor and the 1018 has the N455 Processor, all the 1011, 1012 and 1018's are upgradeable to 2GB RAM (the 1010 is upgradeable to 2gb RAM with a daughter board replacement like I have done)

Since you have all the other stuff (well, power supply and the like) maybe you could find one with a bad LCD or something and swap parts until you have a working one?
