Thanks, but sadly no go. The screen is still solid grey, and since I rarely use the thing, I didn't back it up, so looks I'm going to have to start over from scratch. Oh well. It's not much good as a travel computer anymore anyhow since the battery completely gave up.

Just a standard report of success. Well, partially.

Dell Mini 9, A05, 1GB RAM, 16GB STEC SSD.
Installed 10.6.3 retail disk using USB, all works.
Updated to 10.6.7 using combo update, internal mic and sleep not working.
Fixed internal mic sound as directed in other posts.

Still trying to fix sleep problem.
Tried unpairing iphone, sleep still not working.
Tried to remove IOATAFamily.kext, sleep still not working.
Anyone got it working in 10.6.7 on a Mini 9?

Interesting. Does your sleep work?

Maybe I just have to change it to a Runcore SSD?

1) download and put NBI ****51 on a usb stick this one here

2) safe boot>> transfer NBI >>run>>reboot.

if you are using NBI****51 then you have another issue.
Ok, i'm fairly sure i have done all that.
But just to be clear, what do you mean when you say "transfer NBI"
just copy it to the applications folder?

Today I updated my 10v from 10.6.5 to 10.6.7. No problem.

1.Ran NetbookInstaller 20100616212351.app
2.Got MacOSXUpdCombo10.6.7.dmg and updated
3.Rebooted at the installer's dialog.
4.NBI ran automatically on reboot. NBI icon on the white background.
5.Rebooted and is healthy.
That's it.

5. Enjoy 10.6.7
Yes this works. Started from a vanilla 10.6 install, followed these steps. 10.6.7 seems to be working well.

Also fixed internal mic using this recipe:
http://www.mydellmini.com/forum/dell...und-mic-6.html

TIA
Hopefully tonight I will have a chance to update my OSX and I was wondering if these are the steps that are recommended for a OSX 10.6 install? If I go straight to 10.6.7 will i run into any KP's or boothangs?

Thanks.

H E L P !!!!!!

I started with 10.6.0 and wanted to upgrade my 10v to 10.6.7 so here is what I did,

1.Ran NetbookInstaller 20100616212351.app
2.Got MacOSXUpdCombo10.6.7.dmg and ran it, which it said it was successful
3.Rebooted from combo update, did NOT reinstall NBI again just rebooted

Came back hours later to an almost login screen. It booted all the way. Can see the OSX log in background as it alternated between 1. blue screen, 2. more purple screen. 3 login background. it goes back and forth over and over never get a login dialog box. I have a mouse but no one is home.

I tried the recovery=y trick and the same result happens. is there a another boot maker out that i could used to boot my OSX disk and try to reinstall the NBI?
HELP!!!!!

10v w/2gs of ram and a multi touchpad (from 1010) running OSX snow leopard, Ubunto remix, and 7 RTM.

Default Upgraded to 10.6.7 from 10.6.3 by mistake - 05-23-2011, 03:19 PM

I inadvertently upgraded to 10.6.7 from 10.6.3 on my mini 10v. It rebooted fine after a long while and most things appear to be working, but itunes doesn't play. Can I do anything to fix this mess or do I need to start over by re-installing 10.6.3?? Help!

Default My report - 05-23-2011, 06:34 PM

I upgraded my Mini 10v from 10.6.4 (I think). I have BIOS A04.

and I did this:

1. Ran NBI 20100616212351
2. Installed OSX 10.6.7 using combo update
3. Ran NBI again
4. Let computer restart
5. Ran NBI again just in case

All is well except having more kernel panics but I read about the issue with scrolling in browsers using the arrow keys so that could be why. It always happens when I am browsing.

My sound sometimes does not work as with others, when I restart it comes back sometimes. Its better if I shut it off completely then turn it back on.

Just today my trackpad has stopped working and system preferences says no trackpad is installed. I am using a mouse with no issue.

Dell Mini 10v (1011) / BIOS A04 (downgraded) / 160GB HD / 1GB Ram / Obsidian Black / Snow Leopard / USB Wake: ON / BT: Disabled / NBI 20100616212351
