Default Corrupt Hardrive - 10-21-2011, 06:50 AM

I had not used my mini 10v in a while and when I went to start it up it only got as far as the win7 blue screen but would go no further. On further diagnostic it said that numerous sectors of the Hard Drive were corrupt.

I was thinking of Hackintoshing anyway and have just bought a 60GB SSD.

What is the best tute to follow and from what step. I don't have the original install disks that came with it so will not be re-installling the originonal OS. Will this be ok??

thanks, any help would be greatly appreciated

Mechdrews guide seems to be the favorite and you will probably need access to a MAC and an external DVD drive and a LICENSED copy of OSX, the drive you bought should be fine and you do not need the original OS to install OSX unless you want to dual boot with something besides OSX

You don't need a Mac nor an external DVD drive, though you certainly CAN do it with those. Mechdrew's site has guides for various ways.

Can I use the OS X install Disc that came with my 13"MacbookPro? It says it is version 10.6.7

I am just a little confused as to the difference betweem the NetbookInstaller and NetbookBootmaker and which version I should be using.

I have access to a mac (above mentioned 13"macbook Pro) as well as a 16GB micro SD card in a USB adapter (will this be ok or should I get a proper 8GB USB stick?) I also do have an external DVD drive if needed.

No, you cannot. You must use a retail OS X install DVD - the ones that come with Macs don't work for this. If you have further questions, please ask in one of the OS X sections of the forum.

thanks.
i have managed to get a retail copy of 10.6 and have made up the usb drive. now just to swap out my corrupt hard drive and replace with the 60GB SSD which will hopefully make it a nice little zippy mac netbook.

I am having some issues.
I am following mechdrews guide. I setup the install usb and it gets to the install but once it it all done (but before updating) after I selected the language and put in my details like appleID it just hangs on a grey screen. I tried restarting and I just get a black screen with a flashing cursor.
