Interesting? I'd not noticed that I'll have to check whack one I've used.
Probably both in my early times.

Lightbulb A noob is on the way - hackintoshed! Thanks! - 11-08-2012, 02:59 PM

Yeah, after a sleepless night I fix my problem with sound issue and slow machine. And by the way I installed all the software update files provided - security update, safari, itunes and do on. All!

3 days ago I started as a total noob and searched 1 day for detailed updated tutorials. Most are very outdated.

Then I've found this:
How to Hackintosh a Dell Mini 10v to OSX 10.6.7
http://clarebayley.com/2011/06/how-t...to-osx-10-6-7/
I used this detailed tutorial to install 10.6. to Dell Mini 10v.

After this I took this tutorial to go for 10.6.8 - and it works great!
Installing Snow Leopard (ver. 10.6.8) on a Dell Mini 9
http://tlhaas.blogspot.de/2012/09/in...r-1068-on.html

But when I updated all the software update files provided - security update, safari, itunes and do on. No sound and sound hardware wasn't detected. Everything else worked.

Then I found the solution here:
MyDellMini mini tut from Nomad2k4/bbkr
http://www.mydellmini.com/forum/dell...tml#post195299
It was No 6. and 7. and I made it the same way as User bbkr.

THANK YOU

So the last open thing I'd like to do is to change the NBI that was integrated vom NBM 0.8.4 RC1 in my system with the NBI 20100616212351. Do you know what I have to do?

Default nawcom's legacy kernels - 11-28-2012, 09:41 PM

I've scoured google for nawcom's legacy kernels to no avail and the link in post 109 is dead. If anyone has a copy they wouldn't mind hosting for a short while I would greatly appreciate it. I just want to get my 10v to 10.6.8 and be done with the update prompts for good.

It's been so long since I used it I'm not sure where the file is.

But when I updated all the software update files provided - security update, safari, itunes and do on. No sound and sound hardware wasn't detected. Everything else worked. Then I took NBI 0.85pre and sound work but my Dell Mini 10v have had Wifi issues and was very slow with beach ball. (Think combination of both NBI's - 0.85pre + 20100616212351 - would be a solution.)

P.S.
By the way what is difference from the MyDellMini NBI 20100616212351
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/863180/Netbo...212351.app.zip
to the tlhaas.blogspot.de NBI 20100616212351
http://amandacook.us/downloads/DM9/N...212351.app.zip ? Same number but difference size/SHA1!
Please check it out and tell us.

P.P.S
Do you think that there will be ever a good solution for 10.8. Mountain Lion. Lion's not worth it. Is close to SL.

Hey man are you "offroadbiker" in the comments on my blog post?

I didn't realize you were trying to install on a Dell Mini 10. That could be why your sounds and stuff stopped working. My install instructions were for a Dell Mini 9.

I don't think we'll ever get Mountain Lion support because it's 64-bit only and AFAIK the DM9/10 are 32-bit.

Cheers.

DM9 running Snow Leopard 10.6.8

Yes man, It's me.

Oh, I knew it that it's for mini 9. Just thought is same thing.
But you know - I fix it.

You're right - dell mini 9/10 is 32-bit system and 10.8 ML is 64.
Maybe sometime someone will find a solution to hack the 10.8 kernel to 32-bit.

I would expect that many of the non-kernel bits of ML are compiled for 64-bit as well.

Well one good thing's coming of having my 10v stolen from my own home I can start fresh and see how the replacement feels about 10.6.8 - I never took my old one past 10.6.3.

Thanks for the great guide, Nomad!
Greedy- I'm not finding it either - or, I find the links but osx86 doesn't seem to have any intention of letting me download.
Crabhunter- did you track down the pkg? I'll PM you if you're down.

I'll try out 10.6.6 - if I can track down the legacy kernel, hopefully I'll be able to report back that Nomad's steps work ..6->..8. If not at least I'll have the App Store…

Happy new year!

Thanks to this forum, I recently updated my Mini10v from OS 10.6.7 to 10.6.8 with no issues. Sound, sleep, WiFi, everything appears to be working. Also, I installed Security Update 2013-001 and it didn't break anything. So, I am one happy camper! Many thanks.
