Default Ubuntu Version for 10V - 12-26-2013, 08:32 PM

Hi ,

I'm running Ubuntu 11.04 - the Natty Narwhal - on a 10V Hackintosh.(xp/OSx/Ubuntu)

It seems I need to upgrade to a later version of Ubuntu.

What's the best version for a 10V today ?

D.

I have 12.04 on my son's 10v & it works well. Why do you need to change from 11.04?

We still have XP on it as well, but is so slow it really not usable. I will not be doing a fresh install to clean it up. More likely just delete it.

You know - I really don't need to update at all.

It's a triple boot - XP, OSx and Ubuntu.

The XP install is fragile right now and hang occasionally. If i reinstall it (as i did once before) , it might screw up the boot manager aspect and let me with XP only. So if that happens and I need to reinstall all three op systems again, I thought i might as well put in the latest ubuntu while I'm at it.

I do not find the triple boot slow -but then It's used mainly for email/net activity mainly in XP.
It's only triple boot as a novelty

That makes sense. I still use my Mini 9 for the same, although the battery died a long time back. I thought that I would switch to the 10v but the Mini 9 still works well all day long.

When you do decide to update 11.04, you can do that right in the package manager. Mine is set to the LTS versions of Ubuntu so 14.04 should be my next update. Note my Mini 9 only has room on the SSD for the older 10.04 so no upgrades in the future.
