At what point does the memory upgrade become not worth the hassle? What would you be doing with this machine that 4GB of RAM wouldnt be worth the investment or effort? I am getting ready to purchase my machine, and if I am going to do the RAM upgrade, might be smart to do it now to avoid the necessity of tearing down the machine.

Is the Dell wireless card that bad that it needs replaced? I have a Vostro, and the Dell wireless card seems to work pretty good in it. Are you just trying to get N? Will the stock wireless card do G just fine?

Here's my thought process on this. For the RAM, even though we are sharing with the GPU, I'll stick with 2GB until I start seeing excessive paging due to memory usage. I'll spend the $120 later. For the wifi card, the G is fine for the moment. I don't even have N at home so it wouldn't benefit me. If I feel so inclined I'll get an Intel 5300 from eBay.

As to whether or not you will open it up, it doesn't really matter. The only benefit I can see buying up front is that you get warranty on the parts purchased with the 11z.

Anyone got pictures of the 11z with a 6 cell battery?

I am just wondering if it sticks out anymore than the 3 cell...

you get used to it after running out of battery with the 3 cell a few times.

Oh I've already ordered it with a 6 cell. It's actually smaller than I thought it was going to be. I'd rather a decent battery life any day.

I plugged in the 6 cell battery from my Mini10 into the 11v. It improved battery life of the 11v from 2-3 hours (depending on what you are doing) to about 4-5 hours. Of course, the Mini10 would squeeze out an extra hour due to the Atom's lower power use.

After installing Windows 7 and all of the updates I ran the system benchmarking and my memory score increased from 4.7 after install to 5.5 after software updates.
