Not familiar with the dw1702. I never got any internal bluetooth chip to work, gave up.

I actualy sold my 11z and am using my iPad 3 with built in bluetooth now.

Will be going down this road soon myself, just received my 1121 (iM101z-3980BK) that I picked up off newegg, very happy so far. After reading this post I ordered up what was listed as a Dell DW1702 that simply has an HP branding on it off ebay. (FYI, seller will drop at least a buck using the "make an offer".) What I'm curious about, assuming there are no compatibility issues, is would I be able to put this card in the open full size space and have two WLAN cards simultaneously? According to Dell's service docs the full size location is only for the "Mobile broadband or Wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN), GPS, or TV tuner module". I'm thinking that statement could be based on the general size of the cards, not so much a compatibility reason. Anyone tried such a thing with the DW1702 or other WLAN/BT cards?

when i first received my dell 1121 (11z with Core I3 cpu), i replaced the HD with SSD and replaced the wifi/wimax with a wifi/bluetooth DW1702. it never saw first boot with those original hardware. i got the driver from dell.com for the dw1702.

i rely heavily on the bluetooth for google voice calling (using a jabra bluetooth); i can talk and walk away from the 1121. the bluetooth is also my internet connectivity when i'm out and about via nokia 5230 tethering.

bluetooth was a deal-breaker for me if i couldn't get it to work. i know there's a small usb bluetooth that's inexpensive, but i prefer the internal dw1702 as i rarely shutdown and just put the 1121 to suspend/sleep, it's ready for internet in about 5-10 seconds even while the wife is driving 65 mph on the freeway

So an update on my 1121. The "DW1702" half size card I picked up (actually labeled HP part #592775-001 which is an Atheros AR5B195: Bluetooth AR3011 and WiFi AR9285 combo card) did work in the full size slot. Sort of. Under Ubuntu 12.04 there have been some reported problems with the AR9285 WiFi card that I believe I need to get worked out. (Note, the WiFi side of the card wouldn't show up in either the half height or full height slots, so I believe this is either an Ubuntu or card issue, nothing to do with the card location.) The Bluetooth side did get detected correctly and I could play around with the configuration for that. Didn't have my mouse handy at the moment to confirm connectivity but I expect it would have worked. More updates to follow once I get a half to full height adapter for the card so I can mount it permanently, or if I finally boot the Win7 partition.
