Default Mini 10v Keyboard - 12-29-2010, 08:16 PM

I recently broke the keyboard in my Nickelodeon Edition Mini 10v, and purchased a new one from an eBay vendor. The keyboard arrived today, and I went to install it, except it doesn't seem right. It doesn't sit flat along the top where it screws in. It's kind of raised up on the right side, but flat on the left. I really don't remember the factory keyboard being like that.

In a lapse of judgement I threw away the old keyboard, so I can't compare the two to see if I was in fact sold the wrong keyboard or if I'm just doing something wrong. I've attached photos of it, and maybe someone can tell me if I did get the wrong keyboard from the vendor. All 3 of the pegs are the same height, and looking at the space for the keyboard, and the screw holes I don't think that's right as the left one is inset more, and the middle and right are not. However, the keyboard does work fine in the OS.

yes, they are both clicked in. I did a quick google search with the numbers on the bottom and it looks like they keep coming back to a Mini 10 keyboard, not a 10v. (I assume that matters.)

Found out the right model numbers and got the proper replacement from Dell. T667N or W664N are the right model numbers, and the keyboard should have 1 long post, and 2 short. Mine had all 3 long.

exact same thing happened to me. while looking at the keyboard, the middle and right sides were lifted up because of the pegs that received the screws on the other side. Before ordering another one, I'm going to try to cut the pegs shorter and see how that works.

I bought mine from some company on eBay called SiliconElectronics. I'm not sure if they were just selling counterfit items, or if perhaps they just sent the wrong one as a mistake, since visually from the top they look identical. In talking to them via email it seemed that was the case.

I bought my keyboard from the same company, and I just finished sending them a message. However, I'm still going to attempt to make the keyboard fit. Worst case, I order another one with the proper part number.
