Default Just installed WinXP Pro SP3 - 02-25-2011, 02:36 AM

Didn't like Win7 Starter that came with my Mini 1012. Also upgraded RAM module to 2GB and changed to a larger 320GB 7200RPM drive. The Mini now runs much better.

This is a very rude comment to make. Do forum guidelines not apply to mods?

Great job on customizing your system to your liking avigar.

I hope you won't be bullied from making future posts on this forum.

Cheers.

No worries. Thanks, Oscar!

To rrfranczak3: Nice reponse for a moderator. If you don't have anything intelligent to contribute to the thread, please refrain from making smartass comments. No point was trying to be made. I'm just stating that there are other options for folks that aren't happy with Win7 Starter, like me.

Sure, but what kind of tea?

It was Camomile and Tension tamer mixed together. I then turned on my 1564 Inspiron laptop and wished that my Mini 1012 was nearly as fast.....

There are a lot of tutorials that will show you how to disassemble your mini, it is really easy to install ram. And to install windows XP it will be a little more difficult since there is no integrated cd-rom . You have to buy an external usb cd-rom or a usb stick (that's what I used to install XP).

And don't forget that installing XP after Windows 7 will make W7 unbootable, you will have to rewrite the boot cfg (you can use EasyBCD, it's a lot easier) in order to be able to dual boot 7 and XP again.

Current system setup: Dell Inspiron Mini 1012 (Alpine White), 2GB ram, 56Wht 6 Cells battery, stock screen, dual booted Windows XP Pro & Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit.
