Hi, I just received my new Dell mini 12 running on win XP home, and I'm just seting it up to my convenience.
Usually for any new computer I get I re-install the OS from scratch to get rid of all the crap that comes re-installed, and also to create 2 partitions: 1 for the OS and the other one for my data (so I can re-install the OS any time without losing all my data). But here since there is no CD drive and since I don't want to go through installing the OS from a USB drive (I don't want to get into something I'm not comfortable with) I decided to use partition magic (7) to create the partitions, and not touch the OS.
So my first trouble was that PM7 wouldn't start: I would get the 117 error. I found the fix to this by launching PM from the comand line (run) and adding /IPE at the end. Not sure why but it does the trick. Now, I can see there is 2 partitions:
- *.dellutility of a few MB
- C: of the rest of the size
I tried to create a 60G partition using C: but it didn't work. Could you guys help ?
