Default Windows XP minimized writing to SSD? - 09-29-2008, 01:05 PM

I was wondering if the default Windows XP installation that is included with the Mini has any optimizations to minimize writing to the SSD (temporary files, virtual memory)?

I know with Linux there are various tips to not write temporary files used by the system to the SSD, and instead hold them in RAM. The same should be done for web browsers, as to not cache the files locally as this will cause needless writes/rewrites.

The only optimizations that I noticed before I reformatted mine was that Dell was compressing the drive and limiting the pagefile size to 200mb.

I know there are varying schools of thought on this, but I tend to let Windows handle this on all my machines.
