Long story short, I believe there's an issue if you install the Intel chipset drivers before installing the video driver. There's two "display adapter" type devices found in the device manager (which I think is caused by installing the chipset driver, but I'm not 100% sure.) The graphics driver autoinstaller never worked for me. It would mess up my login profile...cause a bunch of loadup EXEs to crash, etc...it was terrible. I can only imagine what it was trying to do was install the driver onto the wrong "display adapter."
What I eventually ended up doing was downloading the driver from intel's site and manually extracting the archive from the exe file by opening it up with a zip program. Then, I updated the "VGA" display driver from device manager. Then, I did the same for the other display driver.
I get a strange error message when I go to display settings, but other than that, everything seems to be working fine.
