Default Benefits of Prefetch on SSD Mini 9? - 03-27-2009, 02:29 AM

Hello there,

I shall shortly be preparing an nLited WinXP installation and was debating whether or not to retain Prefetch capability.

Does the speed of the SSD negate the benefits of XP's prefetch functionality?

I recently tested two XP installations (both with and without prefetching) using VirtualBox, timing the startup speed from power-on to desktop. The resulting times were largely identical - here is a thread posted on the nLite forum:

Any feedback on this topic would be most appreciated. I intend to use the Mini 9 primarily to familiarise myself with Leopard, however it would be nice to have a fast-booting XP installation available also.
