Default Benefits of XP pro over Home? - 10-19-2008, 04:24 AM

Hi guys can someone let me know what the benefits of XP pro are over XP home?

I intend to use Leopard as my main OS with XP running inside of it. Is it worth me going pro?

mainly adding it to a domain.

if you're not using it as the main os, home should be fine.

Another biggie would be Terminal Services. It would be nice to get a remote desktop into the Mini 9 if you are doing a lot of installs. That way you don't have to hook it up to an external keyboard, monitor or mouse.

Isn't Pro faster than Home too?

No.

As the name implies, XP Pro includes mainly business features, like domain networking, security policy implementations, encrypting file system, automated system recovery, etc. See here for more information.

I also found that Vista doesn't like file sharing with XP Home, slammed XP Pro on there, and it works a treat!

My main machine with my music and movies etc on it runs Vista, and no matter what I did with the Mini or the main system it just would not share media with each other.

Thankfully with XP Pro it works nicely.

Xp Pro you can also log in as Admin all the time, vs xp Home Admin is only accessed in safe mode. Pro will also allow you to connect to more than 5 computers on your local work group. However with a few registry tweaks and a copy of a pro disk, you can get all the benifits of pro on your home install. minus the number of connections.
