Default blocking pop-ups and ads on webpages ? - 02-06-2009, 09:47 AM

Hi

is there a program that blocks ads on a mini 9 running XP ?

on my desktop at home I added a bunch of links to some registry and it blocked all of them like doubleclick etc,

How do I do it on the mini 9 ....

thanks for the info

Beaulieu

just ordered Mini 9 from DELL outlet, 8GB SSD , Windows XP Home, I need to figure out external battery pack and when I get it strip out extra bloatwear, otherwise I know very little about computers and lots about old VWs

Try using Firefox in conjunction with the ADBlock Plus Add on.

Works great for me, I never see any AD's....EVER.

I was using Admuncher, it works great on IE. If you are using Firefox, ADBlock + No Script do the job.

Back when I was running XP and IE6 on my desktop, my ISP had a free pop-up blocker called Pop-up Stopper. It's like an add-on for Internet Explorer and worked great. The original website for downloading it is no longer there, but I found they have a WordPress site with a link to the free add-on. http://www.panicware.com/?page_id=25

You could also upgrade to IE7, if you haven't already, as that has a built-in popup blocker...or as other posters suggested, install Firefox. I love the AdBlock Plus plugin!

Keep in mind that you should also install the appropriate updater addon as well, so it can automatically update it's list of ads to block. For Adblock, it's Adblock Filterset.G Updater, for Adblock Plus it's Adblock Plus Filter Uploader.

firefox with the noscript plugin

it wont load anything, outside of regular html, without your permission (ad's, java script, flash, ect).
