Default Operating System not Found, please help - 03-02-2010, 02:19 PM

mini 1010. single partition with os x. i only have access to macs.

im trying to install xp via usb key, but every time i try to boot from the key it gives me this:

PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE ROM.
Operating system not found.
I've tried several methods with 2 different ISOs of windows 7, and now an ISO of xp. so how do i get xp on a mac that's not really a mac only with access to macs.

ps boot camp doesnt work on the mini...

There is probably something amiss with the way you are using Disk Utility to create the WinXP usb stick. Are you using FAT and MBR in the partition options?

i've tried both NTFS and FAT with all three images. the only time i ever got anything was when i formatted as NTFS, master boot record, then mounted the xp image and coppied all the files over. chameleon boot manager recognized it as a windows drive (possibly because of the NTFS) but when i selected it to boot from on the chameleon menu, nothing happened. black screen with white underscore type cursor, no response from keyboard...
