Ok, here's something strange: I first tried Royale on my desktop and noticed after installing it that xp sped up considerably. I just installed it on my MINI and notice the same increase in speed. Windows open faster, etc. Anyone else notice this?

Some time ago I tried this theme (not on the Mini) and it caused all sorts of problems. Never did discover why, and had some difficulty getting rid of it again. Shame though, as I preferred the look of it.

Royale Noir is a Modify version of the Royale Theme from Windows Media Center is not an official one, The official is Zune and plain Royale (if you can find it) On some computers work wonderful, on other it messes the system and on occasions it evens stops on sleep mode and awakes without a theme (like win 95).

with "official" i meant "from MS", not some modder fan in a modder's blog

is a leak, unreleased, and unfinished. but looks very nice 8-)

I can't stop staring at the imperfect smoothing to the start button on the right side. It is driving me nuts. Doubt I will keep it around.

I have seen 2 versions of the Noir, an Official (as you say) and a Modded with some changes on the start.

But if you like go for it!

Last time I saw it it was a .msi install just like Zune or the Noir file. Some improvements on the look, but when the computer comes from sleep it turns off the themes.
